For centuries, waist beads have been a part of African cultures. Given to girls and young women at pivotal points in their life by the older women in their tribes. Waist beads can be worn for various reasons depending on the woman that is wearing them.  Some wear them as adornments accentuating the sexual femininity of a woman’s body meant for only her partner’s eyes. While others may wear them to track weight loss/gain or as a symbolic adornment. Either way, waist beads help invoke the beauty, sensuality and empowerment of a woman.
